Take a screenshot, paste it straight into a chat, then tune the preview from the menu bar.

Press ⌘⇧4 and the screenshot is on your clipboard right away, with the file still saved to your Desktop. macOS makes you choose one or the other, and its floating thumbnail holds every capture for about five seconds before the file is written. ScreenShotClipboard switches that thumbnail off and shows its own preview instead.

Drag the preview into Slack, iMessage or a browser and the real image lands there. Choose the corner and how long the preview stays up, or turn it off entirely. Quitting puts the system screenshot settings back the way they were.

Built in Swift with AppKit and no dependencies. It recognises captures by the attribute macOS stamps on screenshots, so the rest of your Desktop stays out of the clipboard. Free and open source, signed and notarised, for macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon and Intel.

Install with Homebrew
